Lee Jones - Coach

Lee is from New Zealand and is the co-owner of The Gym. In addition to being a strength & conditioning coach for over 13 years, Lee is also a professional athlete for the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens team. Some of his greatest athletic accomplishments include playing at both the 2013 and 2018 Sevens World Cup, and winning Gold at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta. Lee was awarded the Hong Kong Medal of Honor for this achievement.

Lee takes a holistic approach to health and fitness, believing that health is multi-faceted and more than just what you do in the gym. He includes elements of breath training, mobility, brain development, as well as traditional strength training to help his clients achieve their health and wellness goals.

Stephanie Cuvelier - Coach

Stephanie is an Exercise Physiologist, specialising in mobility, rehabilitation, lifestyle change and management, as well as athlete development. She is also a current lululemon Ambassador.

Steph believes the most important piece to everybody’s journey - whether it’s fitness related or not - lies in the mental piece. Everything comes down to the mindset that you have got, and your actions will reflect just that.

Her approach to training focuses on laying down your foundations in order to optimise your physical performance. A heavy emphasis is placed on correct technique, in conjunction with learning and understanding how your body is designed to work.

Steph is a former professional athlete representing Hong Kong in Rugby 7s and Women’s Netball.

Ben Rimene - Coach

Born and raised in New Zealand, Ben is the co-owner of The Gym, and is also a current professional athlete with the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens team.

Ben was a crucial player in winning Gold at the Asian Games in 2018, and was awarded the Hong Kong Medal of Honor for this achievement.

When it comes to training, Ben believes in building up the fundamental movement patterns in order to progress further. Ben enjoys working with general population clients, and incorporates a range of modalities, from brain training, to mobility work and strength training.

Jennifer Mackay - Coach

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Jen has been in the health & fitness industry for over 12 years. Jen’s fitness interests have become more and more diverse over the years, from studying Sports and Exercise Science at HKU, to representing Hong Kong in women’s rugby, and more recently competing in Bikini Fitness competitions. She is also a lululemon Legacy Ambassador.

Jen believes in a holistic approach to fitness. Movement, nutrition, recovery and mental wellbeing all hold equal value and importance in leading a healthy lifestyle, with balance and consistency being the main keys to success. She enjoys working with clients from all walks of life, and is also certified in pre and post-natal training for all you expecting mamas.

Julie Diva - Coach

Julie’s knowledge of the fitness industry comes from both her passion for an active lifestyle as well as her Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Health from the University of Hong Kong.

Through her personal experience of combining mobility, high intensity interval and weight training, Julie knows that this can significantly improve your cardiovascular function quicker than your traditional programs. Her style of training with students is heavily influenced by this. A mixture of basic movements and foundations into efficient, creative ways to move and push your body. Her classes definitely won’t be an average workout!

If Julie is not at the gym, she is out trying new restaurants and sharing her passion for food with her friends and family. She also loves to spend her time outdoors, whether it’s island hopping, swimming at the beach or travelling to other countries.

Muk Venkataraman - Coach

Muk is a 15+ year veteran of the Health and Fitness Industry and takes pride in being an “academic of the human body”. He holds 3 University Degrees and is constantly striving for more information on how the human body works, both physiologically and mentally to help his clients reach their goals in the most efficient way possible.

Muk spent 10 years competing as a Profesional Kettlebell Sport Athlete, competing around Russia and Eastern Europe, and most notably winning the Silver Medal at the European Championships in Belgorod, Russia in 2012.

Muk works with a diverse range of clients, from elderly populations, to pre/post natal, to general populations and all the way to professional athletes. His health first approach has gained much recognition, and he has travelled all over Asia, Europe and Middle East teaching at seminars and fitness expos.

Caitlin Spencer - Coach

Combining her double major in Nutritional Science and Human Biology from the University of Toronto, her certification to be a pre- and post-natal fitness specialist, her lifelong passion for sports, the experience as a personal trainer / lifestyle coach, and her love for life, Caitlin takes an all encompassing approach to training.

Her approach is one that starts with building basic movement patterns and analysing lifestyle choices. She has worked with clients with a range of training backgrounds, and is a firm believer in “it’s never too late to start!” When needed, she has worked with both physiotherapists and doctors to help ensure a perfect training program.

Outside of the gym, Caitlin plays rugby for Valley RFC, she is the CEO of Solerico Foundation (a charity she helped to co-found), and she is an avid traveller and reader.

Perry Ip - Coach

Perry is our newest addition to The Gym family. He was raised in Hong Kong and has been in the health & fitness industry for over 15 years training people from all walks of life.

With Perry you can expect a more holistic style of training. His aim has always been to help clients live their best life, free of injuries and diseases. He also specialises in strength and conditioning, body composition and fat loss, and nutrition planning. Training sessions can be conducted in either English or Cantonese with Perry.

Ceece Ip - Administration

Ceece is from HK and the Philippines. She grew up in Shek-O next to the water where she swam everyday. In school, she played a variety of sports, including netball, cross-country, bouldering, and varsity rowing. She’s been competing in crossfit and gymnastics over the past 5 years, but more recently has been representing the HK team in bodybuilding competitions. 

Ceece majored in Exercise Science, Physical & Health Education at The University of Victoria, BC. She loves working with kids and is also a primary school teaching assistant at ASHK.
